Outcomes of the LACA members survey

16 Jul 2015

LACA recently completed a members survey and chair elect Peter McGrath presented the outcomes to members during the recent conference.

When asked what the two main challenges facing the school food industry are, 48.3% said providing correct training and support to ensure that the standard of food delivery is consistently good across all schools in the UK and 40.7% said convincing the new Conservative government that UIFSM is a good thing.

Members said that the LACA board’s future focus over the next 12-18 months should be on securing the long term future of KS1 UIFSM across the UK (55.2%), lobbying for extension of UIFSM across the UK and to KS2 pupils (55.6%), and continuing to promote LACA as the ‘voice of the school food industry’ to ministers and MPs (40%).

The main aims that have come out of the survey are commitment of retention of UIFSM with roll out to the whole of the UK, support development and sharing food practice around the work based standards, and to roll out KS2 and summer feeding projects.

The winner of the iPad mini was Iole Jeffrey of Hertfordshire Catering Limited.
