Pay gap at Vertas Group reduces for fourth consecutive year

To coincide with International Women’s Day 2021 Vertas Group has released its Gender Pay Gap (GPG) Report, which shows a drop for the fourth consecutive year.

Vertas Group is a facilities management company that operates school catering contracts through their Churchill Catering brand. As a multi-services facilities management provider approximately 70% of business is based within the education sector.

Vertas has reported that among the 4,000 workforce, comprising of 71% women and 29% men, the median gender pay gap of -3.30% is better than the UK’s median gender pay gap of 15.5%. Vertas Group has a negative median GPG, which means that the median female pay rate is higher than a male’s median pay rate.

Ian Surtees MBA FIoD, group chief executive at Vertas, said: “In our annual Colleague Survey we achieved an impressive 79% total colleague engagement rating which evidences that our colleagues enjoy working for us, feel protected, safe and motivated in the workplace.

“We have a variety of learning and development opportunities across the Group and support colleagues who wish to embark on a fully funded apprenticeship to learn new skills and/or enhance their career opportunities.”

The mean gender pay gap is 7.5%, which is a reduction of 2.5% from March 2019. This is the fourth consecutive year that Vertas has reduced their mean GPG.
