A teaser of the film ‘Food for Life: Building the Future of School Meals’ was premiered at the National Conference on 13 February 2020.

The film is part of a new series by PKL called School Food Focus, which aims to examine the state of British school food. The film teaser featured interview snippets from schools that have adopted the Food for Life ‘ethos’ to improve their school meals.

Ian Nutt, head of development at the Soil Association and Food for Life said: “The conference was highly successful and highlighted key issues in providing children’s food in the UK today.

“We were delighted to work with PKL on the film. It reflects how vital the work being done around the country to improve children’s food is. It was a great way to finish the conference, sending delegates away with an inspirational message about changing children’s food for the better and turning the UK into a world leader in children’s food.”

The Food for Life National Conference focussed on childhood health and food systems as well as discussing how local and national food strategies can change the landscape for sustainable diets.

The keynote speakers at the event included Henry Dimbleby writer of the School Food Plan in 2013, campaigner Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Food for Life co-founder Jeanette Orrey.

Karen Rumsey, PKL sales director, added: “We are delighted to support the Soil Association and Food for Life with this film, which shows the marvellous work FFL has done in the last decade and a half, and how they plan to continue the fight for good school meals in the future.

“The organisation is doing fantastic work up and down the country and it was exciting to work with them on this film. The schools we visited were inspirational.” 

The PKL film will be released later this year along with other films and blogs investigating the state of UK school meals.
