The Public Sector Catering Expo, which is taking place on 31st October to 1st November at the NAEC Stoneleigh in Warwickshire, will feature a cookery demonstration from current LACA School Chef of the Year (SCOTY) Raheem Morgan.

The two-day event aims to bring together chefs and caterers from across the public sector who help to feed the nation healthy, nutritious and sustainable food.

The Public Sector Catering Expo will include an exhibition of over 100 suppliers as well as a lively speaker programme featuring Professor Tim Spector and Gregg Wallace. The Expo is free-to-attend to those working within a public sector catering environment.

Raheem Morgan won LACA’s School Chef of the Year (SCOTY) competition at the fourth attempt after a cook-off at the Main Event.

He cooked an Asian crispy fishcake with edamame bean and miso puree, served with a wasabi mayonnaise and crispy garnish. His dessert was a deconstructed lemon cheesecake with apple and basil gel, apple crisp, cherry compote and egg white meringue.

Earlier this year Kath Breckon joined Knorr Professional Bouillons as a brand ambassador for Education, helping to ‘inspire’ school caterers across the UK with her extensive knowledge and experience from over 30 years of working in school kitchens. In 2016 she was crowned LACA School Chef of the Year.

These Public Sector Catering Kitchen sessions offer the chefs the chance to showcase the incredible skills that exist across the sector, with a particular focus on health and nutrition delivered as tasty food on a budget.

LACA will be at the Association Zone along with the other key organisations representing the public sector catering industry. Discover more about the work they do across the education sector, hear about their initiatives in areas such as allergens, meat reduction, sustainability and the benefits of working together with them.

Chair Anita Brown will represent LACA as part of the 'State of the Nation' panel debate. The panellists will look at how collaboration and joint action, including liaison with Government on topics such as procurement, food standards and sustainability, can benefit the industry and its customers.

The event is unique because it brings together buyers, decision makers and influencers from across the entire industry. Attendees will be from a variety of sectors including schools, hospitals, care homes, universities, prisons, the armed forces and catering colleges.
