Pupils compete in On Your Marks, Get Set, Cook! competition

24 Mar 2011

Pupils from Boldon School Specialist Sports College recently competed against each other in an On Your Marks, Get Set, Cook! competition.

The event, organised by the school's catering company, was overseen by one of its chefs, Darren Tinkler.

The contest saw two teams of two pupils, each led by a teacher, go head-to-head to create the "tastiest, healthiest dish possible".

The winning dish, chosen by fellow pupils, was replicated by the school's catering team and served for lunch.

Headteacher Elizabeth Hayes said: "Our students enjoyed the event. It was great fun and there was a real buzz in the school as staff and students competed to produce meals."

The competition is part of Chartwells' Putting Fun Back into Food programme, which includes food technology classes and live cookery theatre.
