Report identifies children’s market growth opportunities

02 Sep 2015

A new global report by Leatherhead Food Research has found that despite the number of children and teenagers falling in parts of the world, this group continues to represent a major target audience for food & beverage manufacturers.

Jonathan Thomas, principal market analyst, Leatherhead Food Research, said: “The significance of the market for children’s food is clear from our latest report.

“A growth of 22.6% in value terms since 2010, despite a continual year on year decline in the percentage of children and teenagers worldwide.

“Recent innovations have focused upon healthier snacks and the flavoured milk category, the latter of which has grown significantly as younger consumers turn away from carbonated soft drinks.”

“Children’s Food & Drinks – Global Trends & Opportunities” published by Leatherhead Food Research, the technical solutions and consulting experts, updates a previous 2009 report on this sector.
