Result of SCOTY 2014 South West regional final
The South West regional final of LACA’s School Chef of the Year 2014, sponsored by Maggi from Nestlé Professional, has been won by Jodie Pearce. She works at Wembury Primary School.
Employed by Devon Norse on behalf of Devon County Council, she will now go forward to the final at the Defence Foodservices School, Worthy Down in Hampshire on May 21st.
At Plymouth College on March 4th, her winning dishes were a main course of ‘trio of fish patties’ (spiced fish patties served on a bed of crunchy orange salad and homemade beetroot chutney), followed by dessert of ‘waspberry wabble’ (a raspberry mousse with a homemade biscuit shell and a refreshing lemon ice cream).
The highly commended main course award went to Helen Littlefair, who works at St Johns C of E Academy for Edwards & Ward on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council. She served ‘chicken breast stuffed with chorizo’ (served on a tomato, vegetable and bean stew, with a foccacia slice).
The highly commended dessert award went to Natasha Wilkes, who works at Victoria Road Primary School for Education Catering Service on behalf of Plymouth City Council. She served ‘zingy lemon sandcastles’ (a luscious lemon sponge with a zingy lime cream, fresh raspberries with a crispy cheerio coating and caramelised pineapple).
