On a Roll sandwich company invests over £3m in new factory
On a Roll, the wholesale sandwich producer, is to invest £3.6m in a new factory and create almost 100 new jobs as the company aims to expand.
Co-founder James Stoddart said: “We are delighted with the way the business has grown since we set it up back in 2008, and we are thrilled that we have been able to secure this grant to help us with our expansion plan.”
On A Roll Sandwich Company’s growth means its 12,000 sq ft base at Riverside Park is now operating at capacity, and work on a new 35,000 sq ft factory on the same site is almost complete.
The estimated cost of the expansion is in excess of £3.2m, and bosses have secured a £640,000 grant from the Tees Valley Business Growth Investment Scheme to assist with the work.
It is hoped that work on the expansion will be completed by August, with a recruitment drive already well underway.
On a Roll was created in November 2007 by husband and wife team Helen and James Stoddart. It now operates with a 130-strong workforce producing up to 150,000 sandwiches from three production lines each week.
