School caterers ISS have joined forces with children’s playgroup Learn Play Grow during the Wimbledon tennis tournament to get children moving and eating well across the country.

The roadshow kicked off on the 22nd of June, and will travel from South London to North Yorkshire over the following month. The team will visit 12 schools across the UK in a bid to encourage children to eat healthily and keep active.

Learn Play Grow founder, Nino Severino devised the programme along with ISS’s nutrition team. Nino and his late wife, Elena Baltacha-Severino (British No.1 tennis player between 2002 and 2012), founded the sports group. The aim is to tie together food and nutrition with physical and mental development.

Founder of Learn Play Grow, Nino said: “It’s fantastic to see all the work and development behind the ISS and Learn, Play, Grow collaboration coming to fruition with the start of this nationwide road trip!”

Day one of the roadshow saw 60 year one pupils from Wildridings Primary School, Bracknell enjoy a series of games created to develop their coordination and teamwork skills, which also tied in healthy eating and lifestyle messages.

Divisional Director of ISS Facility Services Education Steve Kemp said: “The addition of the Learn Play Grow programme to these events means that we can continue to evolve the way we support schools and help them to nurture happy, healthy children and communities in as many ways as possible.”

The team will visit schools in Barnet, Southwark, Lambeth, Redbridge, Essex, Berkshire, Wakefield and York before finishing in Barnsley on 17th July.
