SCOTY 2015: London regional final winner announced

Another place in the national final of LACA’s School Chef of the Year 2015, sponsored by Maggi from Nestlé Professional, has been settled following the London final at Lewisham College.

The winner will now go forward to the national final at the Food Services Wing of Worthy Down Defence Logistics School near Winchester, Hampshire on May 20th. Presentations will be made to winners that evening at the Norton Park Hotel in Winchester.

The overall winner of the Regional Final and the new LACA London School Chef of the Year 2015, and for the second year running, is Shereene Weston from Lewisham. She works at St Mary Magdalen RC Primary School, Brockley, South East London.

Her two winning dishes were:

Main course: Organic Beef 'Pepperpot' with Wholegrain Pumpkin Rice and Steamed Vegetables - a healthy, flavoursome and colourful version of a classic Caribbean dish.

Dessert: Sunshine Trifle with Pineapple, Mango, Lime & Ginger - great Tropical Fresh Fruits and Coconut Custard makes this no ordinary trifle.

A highly commended main course award went to: Hurline Rose (Right) from St Mary Magdalene Primary School, Woolwich, South East London.

Her winning main course dish was: Sticky Jerk Salmon with Mango Slaw and Callaloo Rice - a Spicy Salmon fillet with a tangy, zesty Salad and a robust flavoured Rice.

A Highly Commended Dessert award went to Michelle Boddy (Below) from Ripple Primary School, Barking, Essex.

Her winning dessert dish was: Strawberry, Kiwi and Orange Fruit Pizza with Dark Chocolate Sauce - Shortbread biscuit base with a Quark Cream and Fruit served with Chocolate Sauce.
