SCOTY 2015: South West regional final winner announced
Another place in the national final of LACA’s School Chef of the Year 2015, sponsored by Maggi from Nestlé Professional, has been settled following the South West final at City College, Plymouth.
The winner will now go forward to the national final at the Food Services Wing of Worthy Down Defence Logistics School near Winchester, Hampshire on May 20th. Presentations will be made to winners that evening at the Norton Park Hotel in Winchester.
The overall winner of the Regional Final and the new LACA South West School Chef of the Year 2015 is Sharon Cundell from St Edwards CofE Primary School in Plymouth, Devon.
Her two winning dishes were:
Main Course: Taste of Thailand Chicken Delight - A tasty mild Red Curry with healthy Vegetable Brown Rice and Local Seasonal Vegetables
Dessert: Tastebud Tingling Lime and Coconut Loaf - A zingy Caribbean Lime and Coconut Cake with Seasonal Raspberries and cooling Crème Fraiche
Two highly commended awards were made. The highly commended main course award went to Jackie Hardman (right) from Uphill Primary Community School, Weston Super Mare.
Her winning main course dish was: Somerset Pork Pattie with Rustic Tomato Sauce & Spicy Chips - Pork Pattie filled with Cheddar & Tomato in a homemade Roll topped with Scallions served with Sweetcorn Pattie, Apple Coleslaw & Spiced Chips
Jane Thomas (below) from Halcon Primary Community School, Taunton, Somerset won the highly commended dessert award.
Her winning dessert dish was: Fruity Crunch Crumble - A Tropical Crumble with a Coconut Sauce.
