The School Chef of the Year 2019 sponsored by McDougalls East of England regional final winner has been revealed as Katherine Bridge of HCL.

Based at Breachwood Green JMI School in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, she won with a Korean flapjack pork served with steamed bao bun, sweet potato noodles and kimchi rainbow vegetable salad.

Her dessert was Jaffa mousse brownie with a piped lace biscuit and a chocolate brownie base with a glazed orange mousse and segmented oranges.

Held yesterday (27 November) at Premier Foods, St. Albans, the four contestants had to cook their dishes against the clock and under the scrutiny of a panel of Judges. They had 90 minutes to prepare four portions of a main course and a dessert suitable for serving to 11 year olds in school.

Bridge will now go on to compete against nine other Regional Champions in the National Final to be held on March 7 2019 in Stratford Upon Avon.

The reigning national champion, LACA School Chef of the Year 2018, Michael Goulston, is also from Hertfordshire.
