SCOTY: South East regional final winner announced
Another place in the national final of LACA’s School Chef of the Year 2015, sponsored by Maggi from Nestlé Professional, has been settled following the South East regional final in Carshalton, Surrey.
The winner will now go forward to the national final at the Food Services Wing of Worthy Down Defence Logistics School near Winchester, Hampshire on May 20th. Presentations will be made to winners that evening at the Norton Park Hotel in Winchester.
The overall winner of the Regional Final and the new LACA South East School Chef of the Year 2015 is Liz Sutcliffe from Sandcross Primary School, Reigate, Surrey.
Her two winning dishes were:
Main Course: Chicken cornets with cheese and broccoli rice ring, creamy corn and rainbow salad with raspberry rain - Homemade wrap with lightly spiced chicken, broccoli cheese rice ring, rainbow coleslaw with raspberry jus.
Dessert: Sunshine Lemony Tart - Crispy pastry tart with a light lemon custard filling and mango and coconut sorbet
Two highly commended awards were made. The highly commended main course dish award went to Melanie Inwood (right) from River Primary School, Dover, Kent.
Her winning main course dish was: Plaice with a crunchy lemon and herb crust - Plaice with a crunchy lemon and herb crust served with marquis potatoes, pea purée, carrots, beetroot and a lemon, dill and chive crème fraiche sauce.
The highly commended dessert award went to Paul Hopkins (right) from Ranelagh School Secondary Academy, Bracknell, Berkshire.
