SCOTY winner named amongst top ten ‘unsung heroes’ from Portsmouth
The Portsmouth newspaper is celebrating the work of ‘unsung heroes’ who have helped to improve the lives of others throughout 2019.
Cross works at Park Community School in Leigh Park. He was one of two ‘wildcard’ entries for the 2019 SCOTY competition where he went on to win the title.
The SCOTY champion hosted a cooking demonstration in the Share Zone at the 2019 Public Sector Catering Expo. He demonstrated his winning dishes whilst talking through allergen restrictions and how he combats them in his school kitchen.
He is also a supporter of introducing meat free days into schools. Cross said: “We know that we all need to eat less meat if we are going to face climate change - and that is going to need to start in schools so I think we do need a meat free day.”
