Sodexo partners with Meals & More to reduce holiday hunger

18 Feb 2020
The Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation has partnered with Meals & More in an attempt to end holiday hunger and social isolation by offering nutritious meals and sports clubs for children during the school holidays.

According to FareShare, a food distribution charity, as many as three million children are at risk of experiencing holiday hunger when they are not receiving free school meals.

Meals & More, set up by Brakes in 2015, provides children who live in poverty adequate food provision and activities during the school holiday period. Global services company, Sodexo created the Stop Hunger initiative in 1996 to help tackle hunger and malnutrition.

The Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation is aiming to pilot key programmes with Yorkshire Cricket Foundation, Leeds Rhinos Foundation, Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, Everton in the Community and Newcastle United Foundation. Thousands of children will receive free sporting sessions and educational activities in 2020.

Nick Byrom, business development director at Sodexo sports & leisure and trustee of the Stop Hunger Foundation, said: “We’re really delighted to be able to work closely with our clients and partners to deliver an activity that will have a direct and tangible impact to children in these communities.

“This is a great example of how Sodexo can leverage the power of our people and services through our Stop Hunger Foundation to provide social value and support those in need.”
