Subsidised middle manager training places on offer

23 Nov 2011

Following the success of the Middle Managers training in partnership with Kendal College and the Institute of Hospitality, LACA is seeking applications for the 2012 programme.

It will start in late January and run until early July 2012 to complete the full qualification at Level 3.

Up to 10 places are available and are offered at a favourable rate, subsidised by LACA and the Savoy Educational Trust.

Evaluation of the programme over the past two years has highlighted a training gap and so LACA, with The Food School Trust and The Savoy Educational Trust, will be funding four modules at Level 4 as a pilot.

The programme will cover four of the 14 modules needed to achieve the qualification. Two will be delivered in mid-April and two at the end of October, for which up to 10 places will also be available.

LACA has also entered into a partnership with TUCO (The University Caterers Organisation) to make these programmes achievable and TUCO will also be nominating candidates.

Following positive feedback from last year’s candidates, it is anticipated that demand for this course will be high.

Each candidate accepted to the courses will be required to commit to attendance on all dates and the deadline for applications is Friday, 9th December.

The qualifications are credit rated as follows:

 * Level 3 Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management - 58 credits. Comparable with "A" level standard.
* Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management - Between 66 and 68 credits depending on which optional units are chosen. Comparable with the first year of a UK Degree programme.
For the Level 3, the course fees are £500 for each candidate to be met by the candidate’s employer (full cost of the course without subsidy would be £3,625).
For the Level 4, the course fees are £250 for each candidate to be met by the candidate’s employer (full cost of the course without subsidy would be £1,350).
The travel from and to Kendal and backfill costs are to be borne by the employer or employee (whichever applicable).

Both course fees include:
•    Tutor Costs
•    Accommodation and meals in Kendal
•    Cost of Initial Launch/Introductory Meeting
•    Celebration Evening
•    Institute of Hospitality Registration
•    Module Fees for each unit

* The fees are based upon 10 candidates undertaking the training.
LACA reserves the right to raise the price or decrease the number of places.
