Theo’s creates new vegan options
According to a survey by comparethemarket.com there are 3.5 million vegans in the UK. There are also an estimated 22 million ‘flexitarians’ who enjoy meat and dairy but they want to reduce their consumption.
Lee Sharpe, Theo’s head of sales and marketing, said: “The unstoppable rise in vegan diets, over 350% in the 10 years to 2016, is something that can’t be ignored and chefs should embrace the evolution.
“You only have to look at the way in which household names, from M&S to TGI Fridays, Lidl and Subway are innovating their vegan options to see the seismic shift in meat-free demand.
“We’re making it easier for our customers to take advantage through the launch of quinoa falafel and a spinach and kale burger – both offering a vegan option that will stand out on any out-of-home menu.”
The quinoa falafel is easy to prepare and makes a healthy, protein rich Mediterranean meal. The spinach and kale burger offers a blend of spices in a vegan bun.
