Time is running out to enter Big School Bake Off 2016
Don’t forget, this year your recipe must comply with the School Food Standard in England for fruit-based desserts of having at least 50 per cent fruit twice of week.
Last year’s winner Amanda Barrett, catering manager at Bodmin College, said: “The competition is so much fun. It’s so easy to enter, just choose one of your favourite bake recipes that meets the criteria, write it out, take a photo of your finished bake and upload it with a 50 word comment about why it’s the best.
"Since winning I’ve been interviewed by the local press and on BBC Radio Cornwall. I’ve even hosted my own bake off to get schools in my area to enter this year’s competition.”
A panel of judges will review all the entries and shortlist 12 finalists – one from each of the LACA regions – to go head to head in the semi-finals at this year’s LACA Conference & Exhibition on Thursday 7 July 2016. Competitors will take part in one of two heats where they will reproduce the recipe they entered.
Eight competitors will be chosen to go through to the final on Tuesday 27 September at Unilever Food Solutions’ Chefmanship Centre in Leatherhead, Surrey. The judging team, will once again be led by TV Bake off winner Jo Wheatley.
