TUCO offers free legislative training to its members

21 May 2024
TUCO has announced it is offering all its legislative training courses free of charge to its membership. This will save members up to £200 per person when booking courses covering food safety, allergens and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point).

Previously charged at £25-£200 per person for webinar and face to face delivery, the changes allow TUCO members at full and associate level to ensure their staff are up-to-date with their legislative training, resulting in safer catering standards across their institutions.

The courses are offered online for full and associate members, however face-to-face in-person courses are also available on request for TUCO members at full membership level. For the in-person courses, there are no additional charges such as trainer accommodation and travel costs – so the training is 100% free of charge. (Subject to the number of learners on the course).

The changes come off the back of the launch of the TUCO Foundation - a wholly owned charitable institution which will provide subsidised training opportunities, free-of-charge networking events, bursary placements and more, to both its members and non-members.

Sarah McLoughlin, head of TUCO Academy, said: “We are delighted to introduce this change and give our members the opportunity to ensure their staff are fully trained without any financial hurdles to overcome. Our training courses are robust and fully accredited with Highfields Awarding body, so members can rest assured that everyone involved in the handling of food at their institutions are fully competent to do so.”

The free-of-charge courses include:

  • Level 2, 3, 4 Food Safety: Delegates gaining this qualification will know that food safety is the responsibility of everyone involved in the storage, preparation, cooking service and handling of food.
  • Level 2, 3 Food Allergen Management in Catering: These courses are aimed at catering staff, managers and supervisors, to ensure they receive a thorough understanding of food safety including the latest on allergens and threats to food safety.
  • Level 2, 3 HACCP: HACCP helps food businesses review and improve how they handle food. It is a proven system that ensures that the food you produce is safe to eat.
