Veg Power UK campaign takes on pea challenge

02 Mar 2020
Veg Power UK has continued their #EatThemToDefeatThem campaign to encourage children to eat more vegetables, by launching pea week.

It is the second week of the #EatThemToDefeatThem campaign that started after research found 80% of children aren’t eating enough vegetables. It is a six-week campaign, which will be adopted by 1,500 primary schools across the UK.

To help encourage eating more greens Veg Power UK has posted several recipes on their website, including a pea, potato and pepper frittata.

The Peas Please Progress Report, which brings caterers, processors and others together to make vegetables more available, highlighted an increase of 89.9 million portions of vegetables being sold across the UK, due to Peas Please pledgers including Bidfood.

The pea week welcomes all to guess the amount of peas in a jar on the website, for a chance to win £250 in Riverford vouchers. To enter the competition, visit one of their social media pages, find the post asking the how many peas in a jar question, and reply with your best guess.

  • Week two: peas (2 March)
  • Week three: sweetcorn (9 March)
