White’s Bakery reveals winner of school baking competition
The biscuit competition aimed to get more schools, children and parents involved in a baking. One of the winning pupils Cerys joined the White’s Bakery stand at the LACA Main Event to showcase their winning Flapple-jack Bites.
Chris Ross, chair of ASSIST FM, visited the stand and said: “I must say they were delicious!”
Students had to design a new home-baked item that they would like to see in their school. The winning entry will be added to the White’s range of home-baked items.
Georgina White, sales executive at White Bakery, commented: “The competition was a huge success for us, we had a range of impressive entries and it was extremely hard to pick the winning biscuit. But the Sherdley-Flapple-jack Bites were the choice for us, with no refined sugar and added dates with apple, it was delicious.”
The winning school will have the chance to order a week’s worth of home-baked items from White’s Bakery (up to a value of £2,000).
The home-baked item had to either a cookie, flapjack, shortbread or gingerbread. It had to be between 80-100g, no nuts or chocolate could be used and the item needed to be low in sugar, fat and salt.
