The company was formed in 1986 by 4 brothers. Who opened a butchers shop in Kenton, North London. The shop was very successful, but following enquiries from local chefs working in restaurants and pubs it was catering that really took off during the late 80’s and early 90’s.The business then had to adapt to supplying restaurants and other caterers by introducing a night-shift and with demand for catering it was inevitable the shop had to close so the business could relocate to a larger premises and concentrate on catering. A suitable premise was found in Wembley close to the national stadium, ideally positioned with the M1, M3, M4, M25 and the M40 all within an hour of the depot.
By 2005 it was clear the business needed to find a lager premises as the success and growth in trade meant the company had outgrown the Wembley site. In 2007 the business relocated production, sales and administration to a purpose built factory and offices in Welwyn Garden City Hertfordshire. During this time Wembley was refurbished and became the distribution depot. BPM regularly work with customers in menu planning and product development, which can take in to account seasonal best buys. Samples can be supplied at no charge. The product range is huge and importantly sufficient stocks are available on all products for next day delivery. Provenance information is available on all products and the business has an excellent robust labeling system with clear information for the customer. Accredited and approved supply chain. The future for BPM looks very bright with the recent acquisition of a business next door meaning the business now has double the capacity for growth. The Welwyn Garden production site is one of only a handful of UK catering butchers to achieve the new BRC AA Grade.
