An independent, third generation, family owned business established in 1939, operating within the foodservice sector, with a turnover approaching £20 million, serving approximately 1600 customers across the North of England, the Midlands and North Wales. The business operates from a new, purpose 64 000 sq ft multi temperature facility at Hapton, near Burnley.
The Company has a broad customer base ranging from care homes, educational establishments and hotels to manufacturers, many of the customers are multi-site.
We currently service 62 schools, private and state, along with 17 colleges outside of the TUCO framework with a total annual turnover of approximately £3 million.
The company’s core functions are the sourcing and distribution of a wide range of chilled, frozen, ambient, confectionery and non-food products on its fleet of multi temperature vehicles.
We specialise in offering a high level of service to a wide variety of customers. We have the flexibility to respond quickly to special requests whether they are product or service related, eg new lines to comply with nutritional requirements or amendments to deliveries. Birchall Foodservice has two framework agreements with TUCO, Grocery and Milk & Dairy, and within these frameworks we supply 14 universities with an annual value of approximately £400 000.
As a founder member of the Country Range Group, acknowledged as the leading buying group in the foodservice industry, a large proportion of our purchasing comes from within that group.
Supply chain, manufacturer relationships and food safety issues are managed by the Country Range Group, with the Company having representation on both the Group’s full and Trading Boards. The Country Range Group has a turnover of in excess of £400 million per annum and has purchasing agreements with a large number of the major manufacturers world wide for both Country Range own label products and brands.
