The Sheppard family have been trading within the meat industry for over 80 years. In the ‘early days’ the family operated retail shops throughout the Bristol area. Since then the company has grown from strength to strength to where we are today as one of the leading catering butchers in the UK. We always strive to use our experience of the marketplace and products to help us stand out from the competition and to meet customer and client requirements.
From our humble beginnings of high street retail shops, we now currently operate out of our own purpose built modern EC licensed premises. We hold high level food provenance, processing and safety accreditations. For example; Soil association Organic, Red Tractor, STS Public sector, NACB Level 6, and are EC licensed. We are also audited bi-annually by the FSA and in addition, annually by a number of customers to their ownvery strict standards. All of these accreditations are supported throughout all aspects of our business by our dedicated Quality Assurance team.
We supply top quality meat, poultry and game products across all public and private sectors of the catering industry from Hotels and Restaurants to School Authorities, National Contract Caterers, Universities, Hospitals, facilities management companies, Sports Stadia, Social Service Departments, Bakeries and other large food manufacturers.
With our fleet of over 40 modern refrigerated vehicles we have the ability to distribute our own fresh meat and poultry products throughout the majority of the UK direct
to our customers. Today the business is still very much a family concern with no less than six members of the family actively involved in the day to day running of the business and we are delighted to be celebrating our 80th Year anniversary in 2016.

They are the first butchers in the country to be given this accreditation so it’s a great achievement for everyone in the business. With the company continuing to grow and more staff being employed on an annual basis the management wanted the family culture of the business to remain intact throughout its growth.
