Head of Catering and Cleaning

Do you want to make an impact? If so, we are seeking an enthusiastic and suitably experienced Head of Catering and Cleaning who will be responsible for leading and managing the successful delivery of the catering and cleaning service across the Borough of Bury. Hours of work are 37 per week, worked in accordance with service requirements, a flexitime scheme is in operation. You will be based at 3 Knowsley Place, Bury. The salary for this post £45,312 to £46,264 per annum.

We are currently making positive changes to the service to build on and develop our service as part of our refreshed ambition to be the catering and cleaning provider of choice.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be motivated, innovative and passionate about delivering an excellent quality catering function in our Schools.
  • Be skilled in understanding the challenges facing schools catering, with an ability to develop innovative solutions.
  • Will also be able to demonstrate excellent managerial skills.
  • Have excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Have excellent organisational skills
  • Be an innovative problem solver
  • Have an excellent understanding of both the catering and cleaning industries.

In order to support budget reductions in Local Government, the Council looked at many ways to reduce spending that minimised the need to reduce employee numbers or impact on services. All employees up to and including the Chief Executive are required to take an additional 3 days (unpaid) annual leave. This can be taken at any time during the leave year. The cost of these additional days is spread over 12 months or pro rata to your start date.
