Gluten free charity Coeliac UK, along with solutions provider Innovate UK, is this week open for applications from businesses and researchers to the £750,000 fund. 


Researchers and businesses can apply for a share of the funding through three priority themes, with the grants ranging from £50k to £250k.

The grants include: 

- Early stage feasibility; 6 - 12 months, up to £100k

- Industrial research; 12 - 36 months, £50k - £250k

The Love British Food campaign is calling upon young farmers to help promote British food to consumers in a series of activities planned for the build-up to Easter and during autumn’s British Food Fortnight.

New research has found that half of British parents have ‘given up’ trying to feed their kids five portions of fruit and veg a day, claiming that they are “more concerned about ensuring they eat full stop.”

Of the 2,000 parents of children aged up to 10 surveyed, three quarters said they “struggle” to feed their offspring fruit and vegetables - with one in 10 admitting that fresh food goes off before they have a chance to eat it.

A national project designed to teach “every schoolchild where the food on their plate comes from,” is launching in the UK this Friday (11 May).

Social enterprise think tank 2020health says in its latest report on obesity that ‘strong and mandated central policy, supporting bold, holistic local action, is still needed to impact what is arguably the greatest health challenge of the 21st century’.
