In the run up to Hospitality Action’s breakfast seminar this month (17 May), the charity is calling on you, the industry, to fill in its short questionnaire, to help it better understand mental health issues in the hospitality workplace.

Focusing on employee stress – also the theme of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week – the questionnaire will help Hospitality Action “better understand your needs and those of your colleagues” and to improve its services so it can “better support everyone within the industry”.

Registration is now open for the British Nutrition Foundation’s (BNF) annual Healthy Eating Week (11-15 June), with three times as many workplaces and universities having already signed up compared to this time last year.

The event, which aims to increase knowledge about healthy eating and wellbeing, physical activity, food provenance and cooking, will play a prominent role in over 2,000 schools and nurseries - representing circa 990,000 children and young people - and 700 workplaces, colleges and universities....

Sustainability expert WRAP has today (26 April) launched its UK Plastic Pact, with the hope of “transforming the plastic packaging system in the UK and keeping plastic in the economy and out of the ocean.”

Signed by 42 businesses so far, including trade body UKHospitality and soft drink brand, Britvic, the pact will see retailers, manufacturers, recyclers and NGOs across the country come together to cut plastic waste..

Drainage company Lanes for Drains has launched its ‘Fatberg Fighters’ campaign – working with schools across the country to “teach children about how to treat the UK drainage system with care and in turn, teach their families.”

With over 380,000 perfectly edible meals thrown away by UK food and drink retailers each day, food waste start-up Too Good To Go is calling on consumers to help tackle the issue tomorrow - Stop Food Waste Day (27 April).

A burger created by primary four students at Morrison’s Academy (Scotland) in partnership with local butcher, David Comrie and Son, has won a gold award in the Scottish Craft Butchers Awards last week (19 April).

A new study has found that storytelling and the use of other engaging media is more likely to encourage children to eat fruit and vegetables.
