Doncaster Schools Catering Soil Association Our Lady of Sorrows

Following its recent annual inspection by the Soil Association, Doncaster Schools Catering has achieved the Silver Food for Life Served Here accreditation for its 95 primary and special schools for the third year running.

The school visit took place at Our Lady of Sorrows Academy in Armthorpe. Caron Longdon, Soil Association’s Food For Life Served Here manager for the north of England, presented the certificate and talked to the pupils about the award.

Members of the Lead Association for CAtering in Education (LACA) are being urged to complete a survey on universal infant free school meals (UIFSM) that will be used to publish a report later in the year.

The survey is being carried out jointly with the Association of Public Service Excellence (APSE) with a deadline for responses of September 15th.

Martine Wright lost both legs in the 7/7 terrorist attacks on the London underground. She has since rebuilt her life, skydived, learned to fly, and become a member of the British 2012 Paralympic volleyball team and will be telling delegates about her life at this year’s Main Event July 11-13.

Alliance in Partnership (AiP) school catering company is celebrating its 20th anniversary this month, having been founded in June 1998.

Currently run by its three directors - Paul Rogers, Sally Tyson and Angela Austin – the company has undergone much change, not least acquiring Class Catering in 2014 and The Contract Dining Company in 2017.
