Childhood Obesity House of Commons
MPs say Childhood Obesity Plan 'does not go far enough'
03/04/2017 - 14:59
The House of Commons Health Select Committee has published a follow up to its 2015 report on childhood obesity, in it claiming that Government action so far does not go far enough.

Chaired by Conservative MP Dr Sarah Wollaston, the MPs argue that the Childhood Obesity Plan published in August 2016, and the actions outlined in it, are not nearly enough to tackle the issue of childhood obesity.

They point out in their report, for example, that milk-based drinks should be included in the sugar levy.

Additionally, they are calling on the Government to tackle discounts and promotions on unhealthy food and drink; as well as calling for tougher regulation on the advertising of unhealthy food and drink on media aimed at children.
