Amanda Owen to deliver keynote session at LACA Main Event

The Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda Owen will be one of the keynote speakers at the LACA Main Event, which is taking place on 5-7th July 2023 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.

Amanda is well-known to TV audiences having appeared Our Yorkshire Farm (Channel 5) and Extraordinary Farming Lives (More4).

Amanda joins the LACA Main Event programme to talk about her life as a shepherdess on her Ravenseat hill farm, how she found her way into farming and how to balance a life of 1,000 sheep as well as nine children.

Our Yorkshire Farm followed the Owen family who work together on a 2,000 acre hill farm. In Extraordinary Farming Lives Amanda visited a variety of farms that have diversified to earn a living and faced many challenges while trying to run a successful business and make ends meet.

The theme for the LACA Main Event is ‘If not now, when?’. The LACA Main Event will highlight the reluctance of the Government to address the funding and recruitment issues that are putting the service under threat.

Visitors can look forward to a range of features at this year’s Main Event, including:

  • The School Food Show will showcase than 150 companies with their products and services for the whole school meals sector, covering food and beverage, technology, tableware and seating – everything for school caterers under one roof.
  • LACA School Chef of the Year (SCOTY) national final, sponsored by Bisto, will be part of the LACA Main Event again this year.
  • New for 2023 LACA launched its Grab & Go competition final sponsored by Quorn Professionals takes place on Wednesday 5th, with the winner demonstrating their winning dish on the LACA Live stage on Thursday 6th.
  • LACA Awards for Excellence is a highlight of the LACA Main Event, nominations for the 2023 LACA Awards for Excellence have opened.
  • Finishing Touches will return, sponsored again by McDougalls, and giving school caterers the chance to show off their creativity and professional skills. 
  • LACA Live returns for 2023 with demonstrations over the two days on how to reduce waste and cut energy consumption.

Early bird booking rates for full members are available for the two-night residential package including the networking dinner on Wednesday 5th and the Awards dinner on Thursday 6th July.
