Anglesey schools contract caterer awarded Food for Life Catering Mark
Eden Foodservice has received the Food for Life Catering Mark for the primary and special schools it provides the catering for on the Isle of Anglesey.
The contractor, working in partnership with the Isle of Anglesey County Council, has achieved the bronze accreditation, which recognises greater use of fresh, seasonal, healthy ingredients, with high animal welfare standards.
This award of the bronze Catering Mark means that Anglesey is the first local authority in Wales to receive the prestigious Catering Mark award for school catering.
Rob Sexton, chief executive of Soil Association Certification, said: “We’re delighted that Anglesey’s schools are the first in Wales to be serving Catering Mark-standard meals to their pupils.
“We know that schoolchildren, and their parents and teachers, care about health, animal welfare and planet-friendly food, and the Catering Mark gives them that guarantee. Lechyd da Cymru!”
Gwyn Parri, head of service (education) with Anglesey County Council said: "This is a fantastic endorsement for our schools which use Eden Foodservice.
“This award serves to reassure parents that their children are eating nutritious school meals, which play an important role in developing children’s health, good dietary practice and healthy life choices.”
