Children’s Food Trust appoints its first director of market development

03 Jul 2012

The Children’s Food Trust has appointed marketing and fundraising expert Duncan Bell as its first director of market development.

Bell has joined the Trust in a brand new post to build the Trust's strategic partnerships, fundraising and trading activity across the UK and internationally.

He commented on his position: "The Children's Food Trust aims to reduce childhood obesity and improve academic achievement by making food better for children, both in and out of school and in early years care. We campaign on key issues in school food and work directly with thousands of schools, millions of parents and every local authority in the country.

"We run the UK's biggest network of cooking clubs and were directly responsible for developing and introducing the national school food standards and nutritional guidelines for early years care providers. The Children's Food Trust is making a real difference to our children's health and I am proud to have the chance to support such a vital cause."

chief executive Judy Hargadon added: "With one in three children either obese or overweight as they finish primary school while others suffer the effects of malnutrition, work to improve food for children – both in school and outside – has never been more important.

"That's why we're so delighted to have Duncan working for us to develop our fundraising activities, building on the success of the last seven years and enabling us to reach more people who provide food for children or who can use cooking skills to improve children's diet."
