Love British Food announces name change

23 Oct 2019
Love British Food, founded by Alexia Robinson, has announced it is changing its name to Love British Food & Drink to highlight in more detail the success of the British drinks industry.

British Food Fortnight 2019 was the most successful to date, with increased involvement around the UK, including a 10% rise in schools, hospitals and communities taking part.

Love British Food & Drink have also announced plans to rename the annual event to British Food and Drink Fortnight, which will run from 19 September to 4 October 2020. Drinks have been included in the campaign to ensure British drinks are celebrated.

Robinson said: “We are delighted to announce this update today on the back of the success of British Food Fortnight 2019.  We have always celebrated the British drinks industry, highlighting and working with the producers, so now feels the right time to rename and encourage more support for British food and drinks.

“Moving forward, more drinks brands will be encouraged to take part and support the campaign from the producer right up to the retailer/pub.  This year’s campaign included Fullers, Shepherd Neame and Timothy Taylor’s, running themed menus, quiz nights, cheese & beer tastings and British tasting menus all over the UK, so the time is right for the name change.”

The 2019 British Food Fortnight ran from 21 September to 6 October 2019. Love British Food runs the annual campaign to encourage caterers to make British their preferred option.

Jane Peyton, ambassador of Love British Food & Drink and founder of School of Booze added: “I am so pleased that Love British Food will now be Love British Food & Drink.  There is so much to celebrate in Britain’s world-leading drinks sector from cider, beer, sparkling and still wine, gin, and whisky to botanical soft drinks.

“All alcoholic, and many soft drinks are made from food so by including drinks too in the campaign we can applaud the superb apples, barley, wheat, hops, grapes, and other fruits that are grown in this land.”
